It's been a while since I posted any news but as they say absence makes the heart grow fonder so maybe that's not such a bad thing!

In March this year, I had the great pleasure of photographing the lovely Rachel Rafiefar's "Butterfly Hafla" in Derby. There was a wonderful variety of performances and it was a great evening. I've posted a small selection of photos on my Photobox Gallery but I have many more available and if you would like to get hold of any then please Contact Me.

I've also been busy with photography of The Silk Route shows over the last year. Some of the results can be viewed by following the links to the shows Flickr Photostream through The Silk Route website. There have been some amazing performances with featured artists such as Anna Kemper, Melissa Pina and the January 2105 show which was taken over by the legendary Hossam Ramzy and his wife Serena with their students and graduates. Photos from the most recent "Gypsy Spirit" themed show will be available soon - Contact Me if you would like to obtain any of the shots.

The next Silk Route will take place on 17th May 2015 under the theme "Viva Las Vegas"....see you there.

The Silk Route have uploaded my photos from the November 2013 show to their Flickr Photostream (follow the links from the Silk Route Website). It was, as always a brilliant evening with some stellar performances. Contact me for details of the photos.

The next Silk Route show is Sunday 19th January and I'm looking forward to photographing the event again. Most of the dancers in January's gathering have danced at the show in the past and they are all of performers of incredibly high standards so it should be a great night.

Firstly, Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful time over the Christmas and New Year break (that's if you had a break!).

I went to see "Mick Underwood's Glory Road" back in November and took a few shots which I've posted on my Flickr Photostream. Anyone that knows me will be well aware that I'm a big fan of 70's and 80's rock music with Gillan being one of the first bands I ever saw live. Mick Underwood was the powerhouse drummer in Gillan and Glory Road play a lot of the old Gillan classics. Unsurprisingly this was my cup of tea and a gig I really enjoyed. The tracks have really stood the test of time and I would even say matured like a fine wine (or cheese....is there a bit of a food and drink thing going on?).

I haven't done much live music photography in the past but I was fairly pleased with the results although the need for a faster lens soon became apparent. So 2 of my New Year's resolutions are to take more gig photos and get a faster lens!

Here's to a great 2014.......

]]><![CDATA[The Silk Route - Photos from the May 2013 Show]]>Sat, 20 Jul 2013 23:44:19 GMThttp://www.davehalleyphotography.co.uk/news/the-silk-route-photos-from-the-may-2013-showSummer is well and truly here and it looks as if it may be the hottest for a number of years (forecasts suggest it could be hotter than 1976!). While the heat-wave has taken hold of Britain, I've had the immense pleasure of working my way through the photos from May's Silk Route show on the creaking steam driven computer at DHP central. The results can now be viewed on The Silk Route's Flickr Photostream (simply follow the Photo links at The Silk Route website: www.SilkRouteShow.com). Hopefully they've captured the atmosphere of the evening and will bring back some great memories for anyone that attended. The next Silk Route show is on Sunday 21st July 2013 and will run under the theme of "Snake Hips" and as usual I shall have the pleasure of photographing the event.

The Silk Route have posted my photos from their January "Cafe Casablanca" show on their Flickr Photostream (follow the link from thier website http://www.silkrouteshow.com/) and I'm looking forward to taking photos at their next show on Sunday 17th March 2013 which runs under the theme of "Arabian Dreams".

I'm also delighted to have been invited back to photograph the 2nd Hayaam Bellydance Theatre Show on Saturday 23rd March 2013 (see the "Theatre Show" link on Hayaam's website at http://www.hayaam.com/). I've had the pleasure of photographing some of the dancers before as they have appeared at The Silk Route Show in the past so I'm looking forward to seeing them again. I'm also looking forward to experiencing Guy Schalom and his Baladi Blues ensemble.

Both events should be great evenings, so why not try to get down to one yourself?....say hello if you can make it to one.

It appears that I've been taking photos of a top celebrity model when shooting DK Darlington's mens 2012/13 clothing range a few months ago. One of the guys, James Fox (AKA Beatfox), is not only a very talented top Beatbox star but he also recently appeared on ITV's "Take Me Out" show! It was a buzzing evening with an electric atmosphere to match! It was great to meet DK and his team who put so much hard work into organisiI took photos of the show plus shots of the models preparing for the event and enjoying the after show party. They were all a great bunch of guys and girls and I look forward to getting the opportunity to photograph them again in the future. Amazingly high standards of dance and of course top notch drumming from Hossam....you wouldn't expect anything less from a man that has worked with Jimmy Page and Robert Palnt, Peter Gabriel, Big Country, Joan Armatrading, etc, etc! To top it all I had the honour of photographing the event and the photos of the performances will be available soon. A selection will be posted on The Silk Route's Flickr Photostream soon but Contact Me if you would like to see more.
The next Silk Route show will take place on Sunday 15th July 2012 and will feature the brilliant Elis Pinheiro. As usual, I will be the official photographer and I hope to see you there...
